Im feeling like I sunk a bunch of money into a tuner that I have removed because the engine stalling in a 14,000lb truck towing another truck is un safe. I have reached out to Jody again for the stalling symptom. This last time I reinstalled it the jumpy throttle off idle is ok, the truck does not smoke on cold start & it has good clean power through the pedal travel but after decelerating down a hill & depressing the clutch to downshift or come to a stop the engine will stall, (it does not stall not in stock setting or with my Western Diesel chip installed).

I took video of the issues & sent it back in for re tuning & was charged again. When I re installed it the loping at idle with PTO engaged was gone but it was very jumpy off idle it smoked terribly on cold starts in #2,3 & 4 settings, (not in stock setting or with my Western Diesel chip installed). When I received it the throttle was so jumpy off idle it was un drivable & the engine loped at idle when the PTO was in use,(did not lope in stock setting or with the Western Diesel chip installed) I sent Jody a video of the symptoms, he said to send it in for tuning, I did & paid for the re tune. The truck has 70,000 miles on it & after 17 years I figured there has been some major improvements on tuners so I started doing some research, many people talked highly of Jody at DP Tuner so I purchased a DP-Tuner F5 chip on October 20th 2017 with 4 tunes for my truck. For 17 years it has been fine, the throttle is a little jumpy off idle (for a manual transmission) & smokey over 3/4 throttle but much better for towing than stock. I also added a Wicked Wheel, cold air intake & 4" exhaust at the same time. At that time I had a buddy who was a Western Diesel dealer & he burned me a chip that plugged into the PCM board that really woke the truck up, about 75hp but tons more torque. I bought my F550 7.3, 6 speed manual trans, 4x4 wrecker new in 2001.
